Mixed-use regeneration in the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area
Planning permission has been secured for the redevelopment of 78–94 Ormside Street, delivering a nine-storey, mixed-use scheme within the Old Kent Road Opportunity Area. The approved development provides 49 new homes, including affordable housing, above circa 1,2450 sqm of flexible Class E commercial floorspace for small and growing businesses. Designed with a layered brick façade, generous balconies and landscaped podium gardens, the scheme optimises a brownfield site while reproviding modern employment space. It reflects Southwark’s strategy for the area, combining much-needed housing delivery with sustainable, design-led regeneration in this rapidly evolving part of London.
